Most sleep apnea patients are diagnosed, handed a CPAP, and sent home. About half of them stop using it within a year. The mask is uncomfortable, the machine is loud, travel becomes a logistical headache — and the patient ends up back where they started: undiagnosed-in-practice, even if they're diagnosed on paper.
Real Sleep started because something was missing
Two dentists, one shared frustration: most people with sleep apnea are told they have one option — and it's a machine they'll quit using within a year. We built Real Sleep to fix that.
The story behind the practice.
We saw this happen too often. Dental sleep medicine has had a clinically equivalent alternative for years — a custom oral appliance — but most patients never hear about it. Their GP doesn't mention it. Their sleep clinic doesn't offer it.
So we built a clinic dedicated entirely to the alternative. Real diagnoses from board-certified sleep doctors. Custom appliances designed for each patient's bite. Real follow-up, real support, real outcomes. No machines. No masks. Just sleep, finally.
Meet the founders
Dr. Elizabeth Rosenthal and Dr. Naftali Rosenthal — husband, wife, and co-founders of Real Sleep.
Dr. Elizabeth Rosenthal
Co-Founder
Dr. Elizabeth grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and earned her dental degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine — where she met Naftali. After becoming a Diplomate in Airway and Sleep Apnea, she focused her practice on the connection between breathing, sleep, and long-term health.
She's a mother of four and a marathon runner — both of which gave her a personal appreciation for what good sleep actually does. When she's not seeing patients, she's usually with her family or training for her next race.
Dr. Naftali Rosenthal
Co-Founder
Dr. Naftali grew up in Kansas before moving to Cleveland for dental school at Case Western Reserve University. His interest extended beyond dentistry into how oral health affects the rest of the body — particularly sleep.
He's also a father of four, an Ironman athlete, an ultra trail runner — and, as he'll tell you himself, a sleep apnea patient. If a guy who does Ironmans can have it, anyone can. His own diagnosis is why Real Sleep exists in the first place.
What we stand for
Appliance
Warranty
Your oral appliance is covered for breakage, fit issues, and manufacturing defects — coordinated through our lab at no additional charge.
CPAP isn't the
only answer
For most patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea, a custom oral appliance works just as well — and they actually wear it. We'd rather you have the treatment you'll use than the treatment that's "gold standard" sitting in a closet.
Care doesn't end when the appliance arrives
You retest within your first week with the same sensor, appliance in. We keep adjusting until the numbers are right. Treating sleep apnea is a long game, and we're in it with you.
Honest pricing,
no surprises
You'll know what you're paying before you commit. No hidden fees. No mystery bills six weeks later.
