Delivery Instructions | Real Sleep
Congratulations on taking the next step toward quieter, more restful nights. Please read through these instructions before your first night with your Silent Nite® oral appliance — a little care now keeps it comfortable, effective, and lasting.
Inserting Your Appliance
- Brush and floss thoroughly, then rinse your mouth and the appliance with clean water.
- Seat the upper tray first, then the lower tray.
- Let the connectors guide your jaw gently forward — it should never feel forced.
Removing Your Appliance
- Each morning, remove the lower tray first, then the upper.
- Your bite may feel slightly different for 10–20 minutes — this is expected.
- Gently bite together, or use your AM repositioner for a few minutes, to help your jaw settle.
Daily Care
- Rinse both trays with cool water after each use.
- Brush gently with a soft toothbrush and clean water only — skip toothpaste, soap, and mouthwash on the appliance itself.
- Air-dry completely before placing it back in its case.
Weekly Deep Clean
- Once a week, soak the appliance in a peroxide-based appliance cleaner (3.8% or less), following the product's directions.
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water and air-dry fully before storing.
Storage
- Store completely dry, in its case, at room temperature.
- Keep away from direct sunlight, heat, and pets.
Please Avoid
- Hot water above 120°F (50°C)
- Mouthwash, denture cleanser, or soap
- Blow-drying the appliance
- Direct sunlight or a hot car
What to Expect
- Mild soreness, extra saliva, or morning dryness in the first 1–2 weeks is normal and usually settles.
- Wear your appliance every night for the best results.
Advancing Your Appliance
Your appliance advances your lower jaw using a connector, or "band," between the upper and lower trays. Moving to a shorter band brings the jaw slightly further forward — this is how the appliance is fine-tuned to your body.
- Still snoring, or sleep still doesn't feel restful? Continue to advance the bands to one length shorter.
- Give each new setting a little time to settle before judging it, then advance one length at a time — never skip a size.
- To swap bands, unhook the current connector from the posts on each side and replace it with the next shorter one, seated evenly on both sides.
Once You're Sleeping Well
Once you notice better sleep quality and the snoring has stopped, contact Real Sleep so we can send out a post-op sleep test. This confirms your results and makes sure your appliance is set to the correct position.
When to Call Us
